Valentine's day

Decorating my home with flowers for Valentine's day..Life has become very busy with my 2 week old baby.. This valentine's day is different..not as romantic like the wonderful earlier ones DH and I had celebrated..this one was spent mostly talking about diapers, pooh and milk..LOL

Nevertheless I managed to decorate the house with flowers...

This one I tried to do something like a Ikebana floral design..
The flowers are from a lovely bouquet a friend gave me when she came to see my baby..
wish I knew the names of the exotic flowers...

Happy Valentine's day!!!

Floral Centerpieces

Hello beautiful people!!! Hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend with friends and family. I had a exciting long weekend..Long walks and strolls on the beach, botanical  garden, Sentosa Boardwalk.. Rest of the time we spend at movies, shopping, chit chatting...The weather was pleasant as well .. I have been very inspired by the beautiful flower decor on some lovely blogs and sites.. So I created a floral centerpieces on almost all the tables in the house!!

I am loving the beautiful array of flowers in the flower market. There is so many variety that it becomes so tempting and confusing as to which ones to buy.. I think we are simply spoiled of choices. This is the one of the side table. A seasonal decor for Easter with my glass Rooster from Villeroy and boch and the Moscow kremlin.

I bought a set of 6-8 of these leaves and mix-matched them with various arrangements. This one is on my dining table. I used Prego's pasta sauce bottle. The clear glass bottle makes a perfect vase. The thought of painting it or tying a ribbon around it crossed my mind but I just loved the look of the criss crossed stems in the water in the bottle!! Simple yet pretty!!

I also bought some 16 white roses, 16 pink roses, Orchids as well..

I will share with you all those pictures in a different post..So look out for the next part!!

I always love to have flowers around the house..It makes everything so cheerful..

Chinese table decor

I did this table decor on a rainy day with dull weather a few days back. I love to decorate the table as per the menu and especially on dull days to make it cheerful. Change is always good for everyone...makes us feel so good..break from the routine.

As you must have guessed the menu was Chinese. I made use of white mainly to brighten up the table.
To my surprised when I was checking my earlier table decor I saw that lat time when I did a Chinese table decor I had used white as the major color as well. It was very pretty..see here!! I had taken those photos at that time with iPhone and these are from the same iPhone as well.. but I see that for some reason the earlier are sharper:( I have to check what's wrong.

Anyway back to the decor..the pretty lotus candle is from Penang,Malaysia. I bought lots of them from the Thai Buddhist temple.  I kept some sea shells in the bowls.

The red tea pot is just a vignette ..I have no intention of using it.. because first it is too pretty and second it is too small!! The golden silk coasters are from the China town..
I have the pencil chopsticks in all colors..They look very realistic .. bought them during the Chinese new year this year..I used pink ones for me and the blue one for DH!!

Lovely glow of the lights when I put on lights in the evening..We had a good time.. romantic and relaxed!!

Easter Decor inspirations

While I was surfing a magazine- Appetite at a coffee shop I came across an article on Easter in Europe. I was reminiscing Easter in Switzerland. Extra long weekends, traditionally decorated/painted eggs, Lindt chocolate bunnies -10-12ft tall near my house(at the chocolate factory) and a braided soft bread specially baked for easter known as Zopf.

If you want to bake this Swiss Easter bread then here's a link to the recipe on a Swiss site- Saison.ch . The German traditionally baked easter bread is known as OsterKranz. (Recipe:Food Monitor.de) The Italian traditional eater bread is known as Colomba. (Recipe Pastrywiz) I can go on and on about the food part but I have to stay focused on the decor part:)

Let's turn to easter decorations. I found some lovely Easter decor inspirations on some of favorite Swiss/German sites. Sharing with you the ideas and tips which I loved the most from them.

Dreamy interiors

While my usual internet surfing landed me on this lovely photograph I was totally mesmerized!!! Diana Lovering is a amazing photographer from Denmark.  While surfing her portfolio I felt like I was in a dream land!! Every picture she has taken has a story to tell!!

                                                                                                             Courtesy: Diana Lovering
This one is my favorite from her portfolio. The splash of color with the beautiful bohemian cushions and the lanterns in the white room is incredible. I love the idea of having colorful lanterns on the ceiling at different levels. It gives the illusion of floating in the air!! I would to recreate this kind of corner in my room!!!!

Diana's core areas are Interior, places and people!! Find a cozy spot and browse thorough her photo gallery on her website. Enjoy!!!

Wish you all a very happy weekend!!!

Christmas decor

In Singapore Christmas is a month long festival..The city dazzles from Nov to New year.Every year Singapore has a theme for the tropical Christmas ..this year it is Christmas in love!! There is lot of music, dance, night feasts, Christmas floats and lot more events happening in the city!!

Getting into the mood I have decided to decorate  my apartment for Christmas early this year!! In this tropical country we don't need a fireplace.. but I am kind-of missing having one since I had one in Zürich.. Can you believe I actually (by mistake) brought the firewood we had in Zurich with our shipment to Singapore.. hmmm..That's another story!! So to fulfill my desire to have a mantle ..I have decorated the new mahogany cupboard top which we bought recently. It also serves as a divider between the living area and the dining area.. This is how it looked like till a few hours before..

Pine cone table top

It feels like I am blogging after a long time.. I was almost drowned in the sea of boxes and containers. Moving in to this apartment is much difficult than I thought. In Zurich it was very easy as everything was squeaky clean. But in Singapore things are different:( On a lighter note, now I can do a tutorial about how to remove grime and shine your tiles and make your house look as good as new (LOL)

I decorated my table with pine cones. Nothing feels more inviting and calming more than a clutter-free table with simple decoration. I found a bag of pine cones in my stuff..These cute gnome and porcupine are from Triberg, Germany.

These guys keep me happy and jolly:) The cinnamon and lemon candle gives a warm glow..

I want to thank all who comment and visit my blog and encourage me. Thank you for following my creative project!!

Spicy Fall Table decor

Spicy table decor

The autumn is finally here..Its time for sunny and rainy days ..cool evenings and shorter days... crimson leaves falling on the ground.... crisp air!!!
It's time to celebrate fall/autumn season!!!!
I decided to make this fall table decor with down to earth, natural accessories..with some things which I feel describe the fall season...

spicy table decor

This is a table for two.. I love to do table decor and arrangement for me and my husband .Its fun and adds spice to everyday life. It makes regular and sometimes stressful days very special!!

Spicy table decor

I used wood, cork and spices to decorate this fall themed table. The highlight of the autumn season is the changing of color of leaves.. some lucky people get to see splendid shades and colors of the leaves in their region.. I see more of crunchy brown and some red leaves floating down and the intricate structure of the trees left bare and naked by the leaves:)  The crunchy leaves make a lovely sound when we walk on it!!! I really like it!!  That is  why I had the major color of the table decor as brown !!

Spicy fall decor

The centerpiece is made of pinecones.. I love to collect pine cones from our walks and strolls...I placed a medium sized pine cones in terracotta pots.Added some flowers and kept them in rattan tray with a scented candle!!

A close up of the swiss dancing couple in their traditional clothes.. It is a Schweizer Heimatwerk (swiss handicraft) product.. hand carved from wood. It is not one piece..The lady can move round and I can arrange them in other dance poses as well.. A special gift from my husband !!!

spicy fall decor

I really like star anise spice.. It looks so pretty..I arranged 4 star anise around the Japanese bowls..and placed flowers in the soup spoon..lavender for him and yellow for me!!

spicy table decor

Browns and reds are the two main colors of fall..though I must admit I see more browns than reds.. exactly in the proportion of red color in my table decor:) I tied a red napkin and 2 cinnamon sticks with a white ribbon..Red color and cinnamon sticks give a festive effect.. This could be perfect idea for Christmas as well!!

spicy fall decor

The coasters are from Malaysia and have a beautiful design on them and a rattan border to them (you might have noticed them on the walls of my apartment from my earlier post

spicy table decor

I used cork as wine glass coater.. I am planning to paint on them some day when I get time..

Spicy table decor

On the other side I placed Balinese dolphin wood carvings..!!! So thats my spicy fall table inspired by nature and the seasons
colors and charm..!!
I recently saw pumpkins in the market..I want to do a orange decor next!!!

I will move into our new house in 2 days and am very excited!! Also my furniture has finally arrived by ship and I am so eager to see my dining table and things again!!!
New decor projects... new walls to cover.. new DIYs.. new corners to be decorated... and all the odd corners, bare walls and some not-so-perfect areas are waiting for me to fix them....Yipeeee!!!
