Beach Vibe and Nautical Decor

Hiya friends !!! How's it going? If you love sun, sand, sea shores and everything about it then you are my kinda person. I love it!! Just thinking about it makes me feel as if the breeze is blowing in my hair and I am somewhere listening to the waves instead. Ahhhh..That's what makes a girl happy!!

I am so addicted to summer that I am having withdrawal symptoms!!!

Coming back to reality here I was sitting in this white cafe with extra tall ceiling showing off its ventilator pipes. While my sunny boy is busy with blocks in the play area here(Thank God for cafes with toddler play areas:) the idea struck to make a beach themed room.  Since I am really time famished like most of the mums with kids of my boys age, I am taking it one by one.

I started with a art piece with my toddler. Since I became Mom I just find it hard not to include him in things I love doing the most. You must have noticed increase in number of art/craft/DIY decor projects with my sunny boy on this blog :) I just cannot separate it. There is no 'me space' in my house. It is our space- Mommy and sunny boy.

We both have lots of sea shells collected from various beaches - memories of happy leisurely weekends!!! I was craving to do something with them. Something but didn't know what. Pinterst doesn't really work for me when I want to make something with my heart in it - something original that I can love all my life!!
And suddenly a light bulb lit over my head.. I snapped my fingers and said "idea".. I just love that feeling..

Its very simple to make!! You only need a canvas, a box full of seashells and colors.
Here's how we made it!
I told my toddler " so today we going to paint a heart" he gets excited when he hear those words...
I asked him to choose a color to paint the canvas. I was happy he choose blue.
I made a stencil of heart and kept it in the center. After he was finished painting I showed him some magic by pulling off the heart stencil to reveal the white heart under it. I poured glue over the heart and gave him box of sea shells to stick them.
"Only on the heart" I emphasized. Once dry and when he was not looking I added some more sea shells on the sides to make it the perfect shape !!
There its done!!
It is very good way to make a beach holiday memento with the kids!

To make a table vignette I used some of our keepsake items from various trips to beaches in different countries.
The flip flop are candles. They are so cute it would break my heart to burn them.
That's an underlying idea to bring all the related memories in one room.

Holiday photos, paintings, sea shells and hats. Its going to be a slow long process but I hope to get there soon. You will get to see the progress as and when.

Beach themed table arrangement

Its peak of summer with temperatures soaring high...Its perfect time for a beach party..!!! I am so excited .. this theme was on my mind for so long.. I wanted to capture and bring indoors, the beauty of summer, sand and fun !!

a4

So I started looking for stuff to decorate the table according to the theme..Most of the times we have all the things required to create a theme ..its just the matter of finding them and a little creativity..

I found some beautiful pebbles which I had collected from our walks.. sea shells , candles and these very pretty balls are made from wood chips..

These candles are strawberry scented ... very mild and yummy scent....

Once again I used my never used cotton dupatta (scarf), starched , folded , ironed  and  it became a perfect runner.. This one has beautiful golden border and design on the both sides..

The centerpiece is a beautiful boat I picked up recently.. I made origami boats to place on the soup dishes and marzipan flip-flops...

I must say making origami boats was so much fun.. I felt like a kid..:) After the guest are gone I will float them in water ..hehehe

Oh then I remembered that yesterday after dinner when my creative senses were on a high , I had carved a watermelon into a ship...

Watermelon ship

Took this picture yesterday evening(actually night).. I couldn't control my excitement and had to take a picture then and there..

So now this becomes the centerpiece and the appetizer/starter too..

I had carved a peacock last time..

Its  lot of fun and its easy to carve.. . I will post a tutorial some time..

Hello lovely people!!! How are you all doing? I know I have been missing from my blog for long time.. I have a very good reason for that.. I am on the most creative project of my life..Guess what it could be...

Did you guess.. Not yet I will give you a hint.. I had terrible nausea for the last 3 months..So much so that I don't feel like even looking at food.. Yes that's one of the reason why unlike before there were so few dining table decor on this blog ..

Yes you got it right.. I am pregnant.. Yipeeeee!!! We are so excited.. Now a days I feel that the days pass by so slowly.. Only thing I think is why oh God why don't these months pass by fast..I mean when is this year going to end..when is January coming..hehhehheeeee:))

Now I am feeling better and will blog regularly.. There are so many things I did in my absence from the blog which I want to share with you..The home decor has changed drastically and we have been moving furniture( actually only hubby with me giving instructions and moral support..lol) I am trying to finish all my projects in between extensive periods of day dreaming :))

Summer decor inspirations

I am in dire need of some inspiration for beach themed decor or summer themed decor..In busy real life this week I found little time to decorate my dining table. I love to do decor and arrangements with items available at home ..for which one does not  have to break the bank account..which is easily manageable..which involve natural elements..some memories of a beautiful vacation!!!

So let's see what I found today...

Though the focal point of the decor at the eye level is the heavy wooden framed mirror and the candles.. soon your eyes will go towards the huge collection of sea shells on display under the console table ...Isn't it simply splendid!! Also notice the copper plant container!!!!

Botanical prints on the sofa set speak of the beautiful summer/spring days..Would be apt for places where the winter are long or for people prefer green prints in winters.. It will always feel like a green paradise in your living room..The green corner table adds charm with flowers blooming in the pots!!!

Calm blue wall with the dashing summery orchids!! The vintage mirror and the white porcelain creates a country living charm!!

This decor has inspired me to do something and use the back door area of my apartment which is totally empty with bare walls as we don't use it at all... The wet area is made so cheerful with the yellow painting on the wall and the fresh flower cuttings in the vase!!

This glorious summery look is attained by the ravishing patterns... orange striped cushions... the botanical prints on the wall ..striped carpet..the stone wall..glass vase on one counter and the wooden big vase and bowls  on the other!! I love the textured handmade wooden stool near the the bright comfy chair!!!

Charming beach theme table decor..some sea shell collected on a vacation or maybe regular strolls on the beach.... with romantic candles ...fresh flowers and the prints..also notice the cane basket under the wooden table!!

Simple yet so beautiful..would look lovely for the dining table or the living room center table!! some candles on silver candle stands and lovely plant.some summery books and viola!

The succulents with some sea shells.. Love how the combination of the plants and the paintings in the decor create the seasonal magic and elaborate the theme!

This seems like a perfect spot to curl up with a cool drink with crushed ice and maybe some fresh strawberries and read a book or comics in my case on a hot summer afternoon with a ceiling fan or a stand fan on top speed.. somehow that reminds me of my school summer holidays!!!
